Jody suggested that to me because he said they were the most trouble-free PCM out there and that the PMT1 is actually hard on a stock transmission. Call Jody and he'll tell you about it!
After Jody's live tuning my shifting with the PMT1 appears to be near perfect.
As far as the CC light a newer PCM didn't give me one and I wasn't surpised. I figure there are Early 99s, Even Earlier 99s and I probaly have a Real Early 99. Manu date Mar 98. Earliest I have seen is Jan 98.
That's what Jody said... he said with tuning, any PCM will work. He said he liked the NVK4 because in stock form (what I'll be running until I can afford a DP-Tuner), it's the flash with the least amount of bugs and the best transmission shifting.

That's good info about the best stock PCM.
I Hope, for your enjoyment , you don't have to wait long for your tuner.

Yeah, me too! After the PCM swap, Superchips didn't make a noticeable enough difference to justify running it. It does in "performance race", but I do a lot of daily driving and I could tow something at any given moment... I don't wanna have to stop and upload either a different tune or stock back onto the truck. But stock right now isn't bad and it saves my trans! But anyways, from what Pason is saying, will Dan's '01 gauge cluster have the CC light in it?

The CC light is there Jon, I checked. wether or not it will work with your PCM is a whole other question. All this PCM differances are new to me. My computer was replaced just over two years ago at a cost of 2K so its not something I'll be playing around with just to get a CC light Oh and Jon I passed on the Tuner, just so you know. I don't know that it will work with my E99 PCM.

Yeah, but he also said he had to decide if he was gonna sell. The mod closed the thread because it was turning into a sales thread. I didn't know that wrong... I do now. Maybe the OP over there could kindly ask the mod to move the thread? But yeah, thanks for the cluster... it "should" work, but it'll give me something to fool with anyways.
I've had a DP F5 in my truck for almost 3 years now. I just sent it back in to have Jody add some tunes and I talked with him about the early 99 computer and if I should upgrade to a newer one. He told me that he had an early 99 F450 that he just sold recently but before that he spent 3 months tuning and driving that truck so the tunes are just as good as any computer now. He told me that one customer went to a late 99 computer and liked his truck better with the early computer so he actually went back to it. My new tunes are way better than my old ones so I am staying with my early computer.
I'm gonna have to wait til Jody comes back to SoCal (John Woods) to get it re tuned. I guess that's the bad thing about having single shots with a 99 and up PCM, I really can't run the truck without the DP Tuner installed.
