I'm saying the tolerances are TIGHT period. Probably both companies to blame. There is not any wiggle room on that hitch. I believe the holes on the receiver (possible powder coat) OR the pins on the hitch are too tight. I will work on the truck more this weekend (maybe some WD40 in the pins to slide? Dremel?) and post results.
There is definately a problem somewhere because everything I've put into that tube doesn't fit without me having to modify something. IMO I would not use wd40 in those pins.....maybe use some graphite lubrication powder or some silicon spray...to keep from atrracting too much dust in the pins. Granted its gonna get dust in it because its outside but I'm just thinking to minimize the dust and keep it from creating a dust clump inside of it.
I had to take a Dremel to the pin holes. Either the pins are slightly high or the holes are slightly low on the receiver. After a few moments of grinding, the hitch fits like a charm and looks like something that should be on the back of these fine rigs. Would I buy a DT hitch for the 3rd time...you betcha
Returned from a week long trip and there was my box from DT, all perched and waiting to be installed. For even better news, mine slipped right in and I didn't have to mess with it at all. I believe the tolerances are a bit sloppy on the Ford hitches as a lot of people had had some issues with adapters and what not so I was happy to have no issues. And like Sgt93's photos above, it is a true work of art.
Note: Ford OEM hitches have a tighter/different radius on their 2-1/2 inch receiver tubes. To accommodate the OEM Ford 2-1/2 inch hitch, the corners of a ball mount, shank or reducer sleeve may need to be sanded down to slide into the hitch. Do not remove any more material than necessary. Simply removing the paint or powder-coat is often sufficient.
And now we know. I wonder if DT was made aware of this and did some re-engineering on their hitches; it took forever to ship but it did fit perfectly. The adapter sleeve edges were rounded out quite nicely but then again, for the costs of these hitches, the quality does need to be top notch.
Yes DT knows. DT said Ford has released several bulletins on the hitch issues. It took me a few seconds to make it fit right. No biggie. The hitches are amazing and I still have a new in box one. Thanks for all the PM's.

I have the Titan reducer. The only material I had to remove was the sticker on the side of it. Then it slid right in. Before that it was being ornery. I put a dab of grease on all 4 sides when I use it just in case it decides it doesn't want to come out again.
