FMX torque converter

I just rebuilt the transmission, but kept the original torque converter since it sounded fine when spinning it by hand in the test described in the factory service manual. But there's a significant transmission fluid leak (steady drip) from the bell housing now, once the truck's been driven/warmed up. I know the seals/gaskets are all new, so I'm thinking the torque converter itself is the culprit - worn bushings or something...

When shopping for torque converters for this thing, I'm finding that most auto parts stores only carry ones for C4/C6 transmissions (no surprise), and also that many of the ones I'm finding online specify that they're for '68-'71 FMX transmissions. My truck is a '74, and the tag # on the transmission indicates it's a '75-'76 variant (PHC-D1). Do the later model transmissions have a different input spline count or something? What's the reason that I'm seeing a '68-'71 range called out for these?

I am not sure the answer to your question about the differences with the converters, but I would check the drain plug on the converter, sometimes they will leak.

Thanks. I already checked and it's tight. Haven't pulled the transmission out to see where exactly the fluid's coming from yet ... has to be either the torque converter shaft seal, front pump gasket (to transmission case), or a crack of some sort in the converter itself. I'm betting on the shaft bushings being worn enough to not hold it steady enough for the seal to hold, since the seal/gaskets are all new, but we'll see once I get it apart.
