Hey guess what I got a ticket today. Yes, I deserved it I was being stupid. But now that I do have it, I would like to do traffic school. Does anybody know about this process in the state of California? It was 15 over and no seatbelt. I understand that if you do driving school, then after you complete it, you don't get any points on your record and it doesn't go on your record? I can't have an insurance increase, and I would just cancel my insurance and park my truck, but I have to get to work. So, this seems like the only solution. So if anybody has imput, I'd appreciate it. TIA
*and if you're going to tell me to be responsible and pay the ticket just save it please, I am just asking for info on traffic school.
when i got my ticket last year in ca i was allowed a choice i belive the paper came in the mail... just wait for the ticket to come in the mail and it shoudl have instructions. just be forewarned that you can not repeat traffic school for 18 months or something like that. what were you doing, explain what happend when you got the ticket, you could fight it.
the day after i completed traffic school last july i got a speeding ticket, 52 in a 35 on my bike. after doing a lot fo research i fought it. with the law all you have to do it provide reasonable doubt and they will find you not guilty. my ticket was 77 dollars and i submitted it through the mail on the last day possible as i was out of state. i knew what i did was wrong, i knew i was speeding, but after reading up i decided to fight and i got a letter in november saying that i had won the case and my deposit was refunded. just some advice, but good luck on it.
Cool, I'm going to do it then. I would fight it, but I was really being stupid. Normally I am as safe as they come, in fact this is the only time I've really raced (I was racing a buddy). But since I deserved it, I am just going to take it. Besides, traffic school will at least be semi-beneficial. Paying the fine just makes you hate cops. And as for only being able to take traffic school every 18 months, believe me I will not be speeding for a LONG time.

In the state of California you can do traffic school online http://www.trafficschoolonline.com/ if you have a lot (alot) of friends who can help you read, you can finish in a few hours.
Back when I lived in Calif, I had the pleasure of taking traffic school. It does remove it from the record and the insurance is none the wiser.
Some of the classes are actually quite good. I learned a fair amount at the school. Won't say it made me a totally safe driver, but I think an educated driver does have some advantage.
i took mine like 13 years ago right after i got my license and my first ticket 57 in a 35 and it was worth the eighty bucks it cost me it taught me some very good defensive driving techniques that i still use today i think a class like this should be manditory for all kids to take before getting their license
I had to take one of those classes, can't say it taught me anything. Now I've just memorized where the cops hide and slow down there. (mostly important for my weekend trips. 2hr.drive with a max of 2 cops each trip) and the cop that gave me the ticket has now had his own son arrested so I feel better.
Do the school. I got poped doing 80 in a 55 zone on my motorcycle. It was a clear highway but still....can't blame the cops for just doing their job. Anyway, it's only a two day class and instructor we had tried to make things easy and not be such a boring class.
You said you got busted racing a buddy? Racing or "Speed Contest" as it's put on your citation is second to DUI in California. At least it was when I got busted for it some years back. Does your citation say "speeding" or "speed contest"? It make a BIG difference. There have been a couple of high profile accidents that resulted in death recently involving kids racing in So. Ca. A judge might make an example out of you if you fight it. I would advise against it. Sometimes you just got to take your lumps.

No, it was for plain speeding that's why I felt lucky about that. I mean, the cop totally knew what was going on but apparently he though I was a good kid or something and let me off the hook on that one. I was pretty mad at the time, but the more I think about it the more I realize the cop went easy on me.
