What is the differance in intakes?

I am getting ready to depoy out for a while and I am getting my list of parts together to build my 300 when I get back. I am trying to figure out the differance between the Offy C, Offy DP or Clifford. I know with the Offy's you will need the heater spacer for the carb and the Clifford has it built in, other than that what is better and why?

The offy C is a single plane intake that is designed for a higher operating RPM.

The DP is a dual plane with small primary runners to boost intake velocity and thering efficency. It has larger secondary runners for greater airflow under hard throttle.

The clifford is a water heated single plane. I think the water heat would give one the best result especialy during the colder months. Other users will know more then I.

X2 what Flip said. The C manifolds supposedly more geared for racing. I have spoken with guys who could see performance drop and mph go up with the DP (dual port) Offies, after using a C.

I have an Offy C on one of my 300s and an Offy DP on the other.

I can definitely tell the difference between the two.

For starters, the 300 with the C has a 600 cfm carb, 3.55 rear, headers, no cats (yet), etc.
The 300 with the DP has a 390cfm carb, 3.00 rear, EFI exhaust, and a cat.

The DP version, even with higher gearing and a more restrictive exhaust, has a lot more snap in the throttle.
The C version doesn't have that low end torque feel, but has VERY smooth power all through the RPM band, and feels like it could rev forever.
I'm not sure which I like better yet, but there definitely is a performance difference between the two.

The DP version, even with lower gearing ...

"Uhhhh, 3.55 gears are lower than 3.00's.

Some have used a 4-holes pacer on the C to get a bit more columnar flow through the carb and raise the carb away from the cavernous opening in the manifold which can cause turbulence at the base of the carb and restore a bit of lower speed snap.

Ohhhh, such a choice. I am planning on using the truck for an off road play toy. I am thinking the dp would be the best then. I was just leaning towards the Clifford one since it had the water jacket built in...just to make it easier.

Come to think of it, it does have a 4 hole spacer underneath it.

Even in TN you may experience soggy performance, stumble and hesitation without heat to the manifold. The heated spacer is more of a hedge against carb icing.
