I know this has been discussed before and I've read all of the seperate posts I could find but I still have a few quesions. I'm building a 1980 Bronco. It originally had a 400, NP435 and the 9".
The 4spd and the 9 are staying, the 400 is already gone. I have an early 80s 300 (Duraspark) that's going to get rebuilt with a healthy cam (260ish) and a port/polish on the head. My question is about the induction and exhaust. This will be a daily driver with some offroading, nothing radical. I want to go with a 500 Edelbrock but am having a hard time deciding between the Clifford and the Offy intake. I like that the Offy is dualplane but with the cam and head work I'm doing I shouldn't lose low end with the Clifford. Also, which header? Is anyone running a Clifford intake and header? Or a Clifford with the Hedmans? Any info and/or ideas appreciated.
The front 3 cylinders come down to a collector (these are both relatively short)
the rear 3 cylinders come down to a collector
and a y pipe brings them down to the final collector.
Thanks for clearing that up. Did the upper collectors fit to the head well? If you bought just the upper collectors and not the y-pipe could you custom build one that would work better?
You could; it would be a bit of a pain, because the collectors come to close to the frame. I'll take a pic of the setup since I am going to my folk's house where the truck (well, actually the frame) is at, and you can get the idea.
That would be awesome, thank you. I'm trying to plan this build as completely as I can before I get started and the intake/header is really the only thing I haven't decided. I appreciate your input with this, I'll be looking foreward to those pics!
This are the pics; if you want, I can work you out a deal on the headers if you deside to go that way. I'd sell you the intake as well, but I discovered yesterday it has a crack going through the top side.. . thats what I get for leaving it outside for a year.
Thanks for the pics, that helps clear it up for me. What would you want for the headers? Which model (part# etc) are they. How long have you had them? Condition? And would they fit an 80 Bronco?
it surface rust. I'd have to pull them to make sure, but clifford uses heavy tube and double welds them.. its up to you.. I can pull them and wire brush them up send pics if you want..
I'll take your word for it. 40 dollars sounds reasonable. I live in Denver so if you want to let me know how much it will be to ship, UPS or something like that would be fine, I'm in no hurry.
