Integrated, 12,000 pound winch arrives in the middle of the year and can be ordered from the factory or installed at a dealer.

Ford really did their homework with the 2020 Super Duty. The refreshed pickup basically outguns its competition in nearly every category. It can become the ultimate snow plow vehicle for those who want it. Similarly, Ford designed the chassis cab to rule the roost with best-in-class payload ratings. The new 7.3 “Godzilla” V8 and recently introduced 10 speed automatic are just two reasons why the F-Series is better than ever.

The Blue Oval takes things up a notch this year with the addition of an integrated winch. As part of the Tremor Off-Road Package, the winch will allow owners even more capability than ever before. Additionally, truck buyers will no longer have to worry about the quality of an aftermarket winch setup. This is a major victory for the Super Duty lineup, and further proof that Ford constantly listens to its most valuable asset: Its customers.

Way of the Winch

The winch falls under the Ford Performance Parts banner and improves upon an already excellent Super Duty trim. Ford offers the Tremor Off-Road Package on XLT, Lariat, King, Ranch, and Platinum F-250 and F-350 models. The company also allows owners to pick whatever engine best suits their needs. Whether it’s the 6.7 liter Power Stroke Diesel or 7.3 liter gasoline V8 under the hood, the Tremor enables owners to take their Super Duty further off-road than ever before. With 35 inch-diameter tires, a 2 inch front end lift kit, progressive-rate springs, and host of other upgrades, the package is more than ready for anything a winch can throw at it. A stellar 15,000 maximum tow rating, 21,900 maximum pound rating for gooseneck trailers, and up to 4,210 pound payload capacity for 7.3 liter V8 models also makes the Tremor Off-Road Package a tantalizing option for Super Duty customers.

To that end, Ford designed the winch to augment the already stellar capabilities of the Tremor-equipped models. The company mounted the fully integrated winch behind the front bumper, a move that maximized airflow for both engines. Wireless winch control comes standard and is class-exclusive, although buyers can opt for a wired system if desired. Customers concerned about the winch’s capability will also be happy to learn that they come standard with high-tensile strength and an abrasion-resistant synthetic cable for maximum durability.

Warn Lends Its Expertise

To create the best winch possible, Ford collaborated with Warn to outfit the Super Duty with a capable and well integrated system. Warn has an extensive history building innovative solutions for its clientele. The company recently released an extremely clever winch setup for the Subaru Crosstrek that requires no drilling or grinding. It also works with the Subaru’s front sensors and underbody skidplates. Catering to the Subaru off-road community is no small task. Ford clearly selected the best company for the job.

“We developed this unique winch in cooperation with Warn specifically to meet Built Ford Tough truck standards for our new F-Series Super Duty,” said Ron Meredith, Ford truck vehicle personalization planning manager. “Having a winch specially designed to our Built Ford Tough standards gives our hard-working Super Duty customers yet another tool to extend this truck’s capabilities whether at work or on the trail.”

For $3,000 MSRP, it appears that Warn’s winch will be worth every penny. Will it make its way to the F-150? If rumors of an F-150 Tremor are true, it just might. And obviously Ford should also invite the Ranger to the winch party. We’ll bring the cake.
