Super Cool and Rare 1979 Ford B-100 up for Sale in Very Nice Condition
Forget those boring, modern, three-row family haulers – this clean 1979 Ford B-100 is the big SUV we want.
It’s not like American truck fans can’t consider themselves lucky, because we’ve been able to buy the coolest pickups on earth for decades now. But one thing we weren’t able to buy (new, at least) was the Ford B-100. The built-in-Mexico SUV version of the Ford F-Series that many of us around these parts routinely covet. But now one lucky person has the chance to scoop one up via Craigslist.
It just so happens that this 1979 Ford B-100 is a very, very nice one as well. The big SUV is in mostly original condition as well, which is a welcome sign since most of the ones we come across these days are modified. All of the stock trim appears to be in place, and the body and paint seem to be in very solid condition in the photos provided, though the paint is faded a bit in some areas.
The interior is equally clean, with only an aftermarket steering wheel that looks somewhat out of place. Regardless, that’s an easy fix. The big ‘ute is a true family hauler thanks to its three rows of seating, with plenty of legroom for people of all sizes – not something that’s common in today’s era of third rows that weren’t designed to fit actual humans. And it’ll fit 8-10 people thanks to its bench seating, to boot.
The seller didn’t provide too many details about the B-100, but we do know that it’s powered by a 302 V8 with an automatic transmission, and it’s showing 52k miles on the odometer. No word if it has rolled over or not, but if it has, it’s probably only once given the nice condition the big Ford is in. The seller notes that it runs great and that he has replaced the transmission and brake master cylinder, too.
The Ford B-100 is a true oddity in the automotive world, but a seriously cool one at that. And let’s be honest – any enthusiast worth their salt would buy one of these in a heartbeat over any other boring, modern SUV to haul their family around in. Unfortunately, however, the only way we can do that is to find a nice one for sale and scoop it up. Luckily, this very nice ’79 will give at least one person the chance to do just that.
