Ford Vowing to ‘Go Like Hell’ at the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours
We’re only days shy of the epic showdown that will be the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans, specially as the Ford GT Chip Ganassi Racing Team prepares beat the odds once again.
When the green flag drops on June 18 at the podium of one of the most legendary race tracks in the world, the entire Ford Motor Company will be put under the microscope for every single dollar and minute it has invested into the Ford GT racing team for little over a year now. Not only that, but it’s partnership with Chip Ganassi could be at stake if the results aren’t what they expect.
But what exactly do they expect? Winning. Nothing less. Just like the famous book that was written after the epic 1966 race, Ford and Chip Ganassi have promised to “Go Like Hell,” and do what’s necessary to repeat such feat.
“Fifty years ago, one of the most legendary moments in motorsports history took place as the duel between Ford and Ferrari took place on the track at Le Mans 1966,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “Once again, all eyes will be focused on this legendary race as Ford returns to take on the best in endurance racing.”
The first couple of practices have already proven to be typical French-countryside in June, as fog, rain and other weather conditions have forced first-timers to quickly get up to speed with the uncertainty and towering challenge that is the famed day-long race.
