‘Edmunds’ Dubs 2020 Super Duty an Ultra Comfortable Workhorse

‘Edmunds’ Dubs 2020 Super Duty an Ultra Comfortable Workhorse

Effortless towing, supreme comfort, and a few new features and tweaks make Ford’s latest Super Duty better than ever.

As you’re probably already aware, the 2020 Super Duty lineup has received a bit of a refresh. Complete with slight styling tweaks and the addition of an exciting new 7.3-liter gas V8 and the new Tremor package. So far, these changes are proving to be quite the boon for Ford fans. But it’s always nice to hear some confirmation from notable reviewers, of course. And reviews don’t get much more glowing than this recent Super Duty rundown from Edmunds.

Edmunds was able to test out the entire 2020 Super Duty lineup recently in the deserts of Arizona. That excursion included some time towing a trailer and off-roading. But it all kicks off with the interior, which is quite nice, of course. “Trucks these days are super comfortable,” Edmunds notes. “There’s good visibility here, just like the F-150. Everything comes to hand pretty easily. Things like Trailer Assist, adjustable pedals, and a tilt and telescoping wheel are nice to have. This is a premium interior. And that’s a leg that Ford has on the competition.”

Edmunds also praises the Super Duty’s spacious interior comfy seat material. “This is as luxurious as any Mercedes was 10 years ago,” they note. That praise continues to Ford’s newly revised engine lineup for the Super Duty, too. Edmunds points out that the new 7.3 gasser is the biggest engine you can buy today, save for the Bugatti Chiron’s W16 powerplant.

Ultimately, however, our reviewer prefers the 6.7-liter diesel and its stump-pulling 1,050 lb-ft of torque. “If you’re looking at the F-450 with that engine, you can tow 37,000 pounds,” Edmunds notes. “Really it’s out of the realm of anything people are going to tow on a regular basis.”

Even the F-250 can tow 20,000 pounds, as Edmunds notes. With a mere 11,000 pounds trailer behind him, our reviewer’s truck barely breaks a sweat. “We went up the mountain. We’re going back down the mountain. And this really feels a lot more effortless than I thought it would.”

At the end of the day, he clearly walks away impressed. “This was already an impressive truck. And what Ford has done is just breathed on it a little bit.” But those few little tweaks have turned the Super Duty into an even more formidable foe for the competition.
