There’s no doubt about the Bronco Raptor’s off-roading bonafides. And it’s also genuinely fun around town, practically erasing speedbumps from the list of things that can harm your car. It’s also smoother, I’d argue, than most Jeeps. But after driving the F-150 Raptor 37 and the Bronco Raptor back-to-back, there are some glaring differences prospective drivers need to know…
Where the F-150 Raptor may be the smoothest-driving truck in Ford history, the Bronco Raptor feels bouncy at times. Remember what it was like to be a kid on a school bus sitting over the rear axle? Yeah, it’s like that, but with Recaro sport bucket seats. It’s also, much like its Ranger chassis sibling, really bad on roads where there are washboards (highway expansion joints & ice damage). This is the result of the Bronco’s relatively short wheelbase and less-rigid chassis.
Is this ride quality a deal-breaker or awful? No, not at all. I’d just say that one might feel the experience more after long day of road-tripping or off-roading. And, if you had a bad back, I’d go for an F-150 Raptor which floats on a cloud more akin to a 1970s Lincoln.
