"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.
"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.
"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.
"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.
"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.
This week’s Tire Smokin’ video features a 2008-2010 Ford F-250 packing the PowerStroke Diesel engine participating in what looks to be a burnout competition at a race track. There is no mod list, but before this F-250 starts creating monster amounts of smoke, the plume of black soot leads me to believe that there is […] More »
When I first stumbled across the video below showing a classic Ford F-250 pickup playing in the mud, my first thought was that it was an early Bigfoot truck. It isn’t – as it isn’t quite as extreme as the 1974 F-250 that Bob Chandler used to create the first car-crushing monster truck, but this […] More »
Shortly after the 2015 Ford F-150 was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, a set of images surfaced showing what appeared to be a new Ford Bronco that was clearly based on the 2015 F-150. Sadly, the 2015 Bronco was nothing more than an April Fool’s joke, but there is no […] More »
This week’s Throwback video is a short, sweet piece featuring an obviously modified 1985 Ford F-250 pickup showing off the extent and result of his suspension modifications. To do so, the owner is driving this murdered out F-250 through a small roadside ditch. This simple obstacle would have a great many trucks dragging in the […] More »
This week’s Truckin Fast video features a 2007 Ford F-150 turned Saleen S331 supertruck, which has been fitted with a 440 horsepower upgrade package from JDM Engineering and a whole lot of stickers to make one wicked high performance half ton pickup. There are a handful of videos of this particular F-150 floating around the […] More »
This week’s Tire Smokin’ video features a 2004 Ford F-350 packing a modified PowerStroke diesel engine and when you consider how well a torque diesel will smoke the tires in stock form – you can likely imagine that beating that the rear tires face while being spun by a built up PowerStroke. This video does […] More »
This week’s Mudfest features a 9th generation (1992-1996) Ford F-350 pickup powered by a turbocharged diesel engine. There is no information offered on this F-350, but it is obviously powered by a diesel engine that sounds a little hotter than stock. It also has some big tires and maybe a touch of lift, but that […] More »
