2024 Ford F-150 & F-150 Raptor Spied Testing in Colorado
This pair of 2024 Ford F-150 pickups show off a few new design elements, but what are they hiding underneath?
We’ve known for some time that a refreshed version of the Ford F-150 was on tap for the 2024 model year, following the hot-selling pickup’s regular cadence. We’ve also seen a handful of prototypes out testing, looking a lot like, well, the current model, which debuted for the 2021 model year. However, we do know that the 2024 Ford F-150 will have a few new tricks up its sleeve, aside from a few styling updates inside and out, and now, The Fast Lane Truck has spied not just one, but two of these trucks out doing some high-altitude testing in Colorado.
These trucks were spotted side by side, with one being a regular 2024 Ford F-150 and the other clearly a Raptor version of the venerable pickup. The most obvious difference one can spot right away are the truck’s new taillight designs, which sport a unique piece of signature lighting that forms something of an upside down “L” inside the lens that’s similar to what’s already present on the all-electric F-150 Lightning.
As for the tailgate, rumors have perpetuated for some time that the F-150 would eventually be getting a multi-function piece back there like its competition, and that could very well be the case, as well as an explanation for the heavy camo used here. Regardless, both trucks sport twin exhaust tips, along with various types of testing equipment, but not a whole heck of a lot of obvious changes – pretty much what you’d expect from a mid-cycle refresh.
Otherwise, it’s pretty clear that Ford isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel here, and rather, merely give its perennially best-selling pickup a few updates to keep it fresh and competitive, as is usually the case. It’s pretty safe to assume that the pickup will get a few updates in terms of tech, perhaps a new or revised infotainment system, and most likely a carry-over powertrain lineup. Bigger things will come with the next redesign, which if Ford follows its current cadence, can be expected in another three years or so.
