Ford Ranger Runs Red Light, Pays the Price
A Ford Ranger driving high school student didn't notice the light was red, which turned out to be a big mistake.
Dangerous Situation
Among all of the riskier things drivers can do, running a red light is one of the most dangerous, for obvious reasons. Oftentimes, those obeying traffic rules and rolling through an intersection when the light is green are either unable to stop when someone runs a red light, or perhaps may not even notice what's going on, which can lead to a nasty collision. That's precisely what happened in Santa Clara, Utah recently when a high school student ran a red light in her Ford Ranger pickup, according to the St, George News.
Big Mistake
It all when down when the student was driving home from lacrosse practice. When she approached the intersection, she didn't notice that the light was red, and kept on driving through like normal. Unfortunately for her, that oversight turned out to be a major mistake, as there was in fact traffic coming from the other direction.
Impact
Ironically enough, a Ford F-150 was turning left at the same intersection and wound up hitting the front end of the Ranger, sending the compact pickup spinning out and into a curb. Once that impact happened, the Ranger rolled over on its side and came to a stop.
Interesting Outcome
Amazingly, the F-150 suffered no damage whatsoever, speaking to how light this particular impact was, and yet, it was enough to make the Ranger driver lose control, it seems. On the bright side, it doesn't look like anyone was injured, including the Ranger driver, who spoke to the media afterward.
Important Reminder
As for the poor Ranger, well, that's a different story, as the old compact pickup clearly suffered extensive damage here. Luckily, however, this incident ended about as well as it could have, and thus, it serves as an important reminder - distracted driving can be incredibly dangerous, particularly at intersections, which is why we need to keep our eyes glued to the road.
