1970 Ford F-250 Heritage Edition Makes a Case for Its $325K Price Tag
This 1970 Ford F-250 Heritage Edition is an obsessive take on the original that totally transforms it for the modern era.
After years of cranking out high dollar, high quality Bronco restomods, Velocity Restorations recently turned its attention to the Bumpside era of Ford trucks, and the results are quite simply the same. These trucks stunned the world when they debuted, in more ways than one. Aside from being drop dead gorgeous in every way, the vintage pickups are also pricey, to the tune of far more than six figures. But as The Drive recently discovered, this particular 1970 Ford F-250 Heritage Edition might just be worth that rather large outlay of cash.
Velocity Restorations currently offers two different flavors of Bumpside – the Signature Series, which starts out at an eye-watering $285k, and the Heritage Edition, which costs even more – $325k. As one might expect, you do get a lot for that money, and an essentially perfect restomodded Ford pickup. These trucks are also quite luxurious inside, loaded with modern amenities, and packing modern power in the form of a 5,0-liter Coyote V8.
This 1970 Ford F-250 Heritage Edition contains all of the very best one can hope for, including a leather interior, billet trim, a two-tone paint job, and various other appointments. The entire theme here is to reimagine a vintage Blue Oval pickup for the modern times, and it seems as if they nailed it. Everything – including the door handles, which open with a “satisfying mechanical pop,” as our reviewer notes – feels like a quality-built piece, as it should.
Aside from being simply gorgeous to look at, comfy to sit in, and great to feel, the F-250 Heritage Edition is also apparently light years better to drive than the original, too. Riding on a Roadster Shop chassis with Fox shocks, the pickup offers “a comfortable and compliant, yet controlled ride,” our reviewer notes. “You never forget you’re behind the wheel of a straight-axled brute, but it’s never too jarring – you barely feel speed bumps.”
Essentially, the 1970 Ford F-250 Heritage Edition is pretty much what one might expect – an obsessive take on a classic truck, one that transforms a relic in the automotive world into the best-looking “new” pickup out there. And if that doesn’t justify its sky-high price tag, well, we’re not sure what would.
