White Ford Bronco Likes to Get a Little Dirty: Muddy Monday

Bronco has mud-escaping abilities that would make O.J. Simpson and Al Cowlings proud.

The last time that we see a big Ford Bronco running this hard was back in 1995 when Al Cowlings was helping longtime friend O.J. Simpson run from the police. The low speed chase ended up at O.J.’s home where the NFL legend was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife. At that point, the “white Ford Bronco” was forever tied to O.J. Simpson, but this week’s Muddy Monday video features a big-bodied SUV that is making its own reputation for being unstoppable.

This footage comes to us from the CarWarz YouTube channel and in the various clips from the Backyard Brawl 2K19 Mud Bog, this white Ford Bronco never fails to clear the mud.

White Ford Bronco

There are no details on this white Ford Bronco included in the video, but we can tell quite a bit from what we can see and hear in the video. Based on the sound, this SUV is definitely powered by a V8, but it doesn’t sound like an insanely-powered mill, so it could be a modified version of the stock engine. Both the 302- and 351-cubic inch V8 engines were offered during this era of the Bronco, so it is possible that either one of those have been built to turn the big rubber through the thick muck.

In addition to the V8 engine and big mud tires, this Bronco clearly has some suspension upgrades to create more ground clearance and room for the rollers, along with what appears to be upgraded front and rear differentials.

As for the exterior, aside from the lift, the wheels and the tires, the only real body modifications are the tubular front bumper with a winch and the rear bumper. The rest of the body, including all of the sheet metal, looks original and it looks like this Bronco could be driven on the street in some places.

Conquering the Mud

In the video, we watch as this 1990s-era Ford Bronco storms through the Michigan mud over and over again. At times, the truck is moving forward very slowly, throwing more mud into the air than anything, but it never fails to maintain forward progress.

On multiple occasions, the driver turns at the edge of the bog, heading right back into the deepest portions without any momentum, but even in the deepest slop, the white Ford Bronco is always successful in getting to the other side of the pit.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
