Top 5 F-350 Models with the Highest Payload Capacity Ever

The F-350 is the ultimate do-it-all Ford. We have a look at five with the highest payload capacities over the past quarter-century.
What Ford truck do you turn to when you need to do everything? There’s only one: the F-350. Since 1973, the heavy-hitter’s been there for contractors, outdoor enthusiasts, and shops alike. And though it resides on the lower end of the current Super Duty lineup, it’s the hardest-working rig for the general public; the super-heavyweights above the F-350 are aimed at commercial customers.
In the past quarter-century, the F-350’s gone from holding a fair amount of payload in the bed, to hauling the heftiest loads around town. Here are the five F-350 models with the highest payload capacities, based on their max payload configuration.
No. 5: 1997 F-350 – 4,657 LBS

The last of the OBS trucks, the last non-Super Duty F-350 went out with a bang in 1997. A lot of it had to do with the 7.3-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8, originally known as the Navistar T444E. One of the most reliable diesels ever to live under the hood of a Ford, the big daddy V8 helped haul up to 4,657 pounds in an F-350 with the extended cab and a five-speed manual moving the 210 horses and 505 lb-ft of torque to the rear dually axle.
