~~~ The Official SIP Food Thread aka Glutton Gulch ~~~
Hello all. With the entire nation gradually going into coronavirus lockdown, one thing we can do to keep our spirits up is to eat and talk about delicious food. It is in that spirit that I post the following and hope that you will join me.
Feel free to post whatever dishes/desserts/beverages you have made, enjoyed eating/drinking, or want to make (and need help maybe?). Include the recipe if you feel like it but you don't have to. With that said, here we go!
Reproduced from the Official Morning Coffee Thread, today's SIP baking project is Pao de Queijo (Brazilian cheesy popovers).
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease the inside of a mini muffin tin with cooking spray.
In a medium sauce pan, combine butter, salt and milk. Bring to a low boil.
As soon as mixture boils, transfer it to a mixing bowl. Using an electric hand mixer or stand mixer, slowly add in tapioca flour. Be very careful because the mixture can spit out and it is hot!
Add in cheese, eggs, sugar and oil. Mixture will be the consistency of a wet bread dough. It is very sticky and moist.
Spoon dough into individual muffin tins to about 2/3 full.
Bake for 20 minutes. Puffs will start to puff right out of the tin and be golden brown on the tops.
Serve while warm. Enjoy!
If you’ve tried this recipe, please come back and leave us a comment!
I know we (the FTE members) discussed this a bit in the Morning Coffee thread created by @BBslider001 , but I am glad to see you took the idea and ran with it. That said, my wife and I made a nice social distancing/SIP dinner tonight.
I had a ribeye steak cooked mid-rare and my wife had a fillet cooked well done, both on the BBQ. I also made some fried whole corn in an iron skillet on the side burner. I use 1/8 a stick of butter with Johnny's seasoning salt, pepper, garlic and then fry the corn until it starts to caramelize. I also chopped and roasted some potatoes after I seasoned them with butter, sea salt, garlic and pepper. Oh ya, and she had some broccoli...
This thread is ridiculous. First, it has NOTHING to do with trucks. Second, now I have to deal with pictures of steaks....and Brazilian cheesy whatevers....and BEER? And did I mention steaks? On the grill??!! Now I shall remain eternally longing for food I don't need. This shelter in place already has me feeling insecure about my girlish figure and my curves. At least @akcooper9 photo has his truck in the background.....
But seriously, great idea @Sous ....I shall contribute as I am able. Cheers!
I must give 100% of the credit to FordTruckNoob and the other FTE members that made this thread happen. Yes, it is not of a mechanical or truck nature, but this is a time in our nation unlike any other and we all need to eat and drink.
I encourage anyone that fires up the grill, stovetop, smoker, oven, deep fryer, campfire, etc to post pictures of what they have made. @akcooper9 posted a picture of his recently brewed Texas Hazy IPA that I hope to try one day.
So, as you go about your day, if you feel you want to share what your eating/drinking with the FTE, I assure you there will be other FTE'rs that want to see it.
Have fun, be safe and eat/drink well at any opportunity you get!
Man I'd love to to brew beer but I have enough chemistry sets (as my wife calls them) as it is.
Tonight's dinner is East meets West meets South America. Clockwise from top:
Oi-muchim (Korean spicy cucumber salad)
Coleslaw
Yangnyeom Tongdak (Korean crispy fried chicken in a spicy sweet glaze)
Pao de queijo (Brazilian cheesy popovers)
