Ford Super Duty Driver Stops Thief

The driver of this Super Duty was just trying to grab lunch, but his quick thinking helped stop a fleeing car thief.

There are still good samaritans in this world, as we’re reminded of on a nearly daily basis. The latest example of a good deed comes to us from Jacksonville, Texas, where a Ford Super Duty driver used some quick thinking to help a police officer catch a fleeing criminal. The whole thing went down, humorously enough, in a Chik-Fil-A drive-thru, where the unintended hero was just trying to snag some chicken for lunch.

Instead, he got to play wingman in an impromptu foot pursuit. It all started when a Jacksonville Police Department officer attempted to pull over the suspect after discovering he was driving a stolen vehicle. Instead of complying, the man jumped out of the vehicle and took off on foot. He cut in between the vehicles lined up at the drive-thru, but the Super Duty driver was ready for him when he approached the big old truck.

The driver simply opened the door of his pickup at precisely the right time, smacking the fleeing criminal and sending him reeling. It threw him off track just enough for the officer to catch up, at which point a struggle ensued. The officer’s taser fell out of his belt during the scuffle, but the Super Duty driver jumped out and moved it out of the suspect’s reach like a real hero. Luckily, he’s gotten the recognition he deserves after Jacksonville P.D. posted the video on their Facebook page, along with a humorous caption.

“Today, Jacksonville Police Officers attempted to stop a man in a stolen vehicle,” the department wrote in the post. “The suspect ran through the Chick-Fil-A parking lot. A hungry customer, who was waiting patiently for his chicken sandwich, used his door to stop the suspect. The suspect was quickly apprehended after the ‘HANGRY’ (but helpful) citizen reminded the suspect as to why you should never run from the police.”

Comments on the video have crested the 1,000 mark, with a heap of praise levied on the Super Duty driver for his heroic actions. And we’d say that it’s truly deserved in this case. After all, a lot of people would have just sat by idly and refused to intervene, but this upstanding citizen went above and beyond to help put a car thief behind bars where they belong.
