Need some help 7.3l
I have a 02 f250 4x4 7.3l. I drove it all weekend and no problems. It sat till yesterday I got in it to go to church. It started up and had a little miss was around 60 f. Then the od light started flashing. Not in any code just constant flash. I was parked down in my drive way. It idled fine but acted like it wouldn't take fuel. So looked around and found the hose on the map sensor was broke. So today I fixed the hose. Checked the oil level and battery connections. Still running weird and flashing od light. I got under the hood and wiggled plugs I unplugged the ice. It reved up then back down and started running smoothly. Got in it and it backed out of the drive way. It ran and drove fine. What I need to know is why??? The ice is a new one from Ford. Anybody have any ideas. I'm all ears

If it runs rough with the ICP plugged in, and it runs well after unplugging the ICP...that points to the ICP being bad most of the time. Is there any oil in the connector when you unplug it?
Of course, that does not account for the flashing OD light. That is telling you there is a transmission issue. Pull codes and post them here for correct advice on what to do next with that.

Most likely a flashing OD light is a wheel or transmission speed sensor but an ABS/brake issue can cause the light to flash. This can affect shifts, power, ABS and if equipped traction control including automatic 4wd. The ECM/IDM see a problem it does not know what to do with and puts in in to a safe mode so to speak. That is a very rudimentary definition.

The icp is a new Ford one. I replaced it 3 months ago for the oil leaking out of the plug. Hope it's not bad but possible. When I unplugged it, it made the engine Rev up some. Maybe 500 rims then right back down. Like it reset the computer. I do know that my od light has a short in it and I have a new one. Just haven't been able to install yet. I'll pull the codes to ight and see what they areally and report

all trans codes. I'm going to check the plugs on it now see if there's a problem the the trans only has 3000 miles on it.

Icp pigtail is clean. I cleaned the trans plug it has trans fluid in it. Might need an orings behind shift sensor. I cleaned it fired it up and ran like a champ. Got another check engine light. Now says codes in idm. I'll have to get a better scanner to see what codes are in it. I'm about ready to sale this truck. Had it 6 months and put over 3gs in it to keep it on the road. I think valve cover gaskets are next

I just had a similar problem.
My OD light was flashing about a month or so earlier and my truck would run rough like it was starving for fuel. I changed out the TSS and the OSS sensors and the transmission smoothed out and the truck ran so much better.
It was an adventure to change the TSS and the OSS.
Then it started flashing again but it ran okay. This time
I had a bad neutral safety switch and that pigtail was bad. It caused my OD light to flash. The sensor in this picture was a ford part, that failed in only 15 months.
