This has probably been discussed here before, and I did try to search for it, I even looked in the tech post above.
So without any luck from the above, I'll risk and ask the question.
Was driving my 02 F250 V10 SC 4X4 Auto from here to the computer store. The way is fairly slow and has quite a few stop signs along the way, not to mention a few hills. (All in-town driving).
I noticed after driving a bit the OVERDRIVE light on the gear shifter was flashing on and off. I did this all the way until I arrived at the store. (Maybe 2 miles).
I shut it down and went in, picked up what I was after and came back out, of maybe 30 minutes later (long checkout lines). I fired it back up and drove it home and what little I've driven it since, the light has been as normal.
Can someone enlighten me on what's up or was up with the light? It's due for it's free oil change and if it's something I need the dealer to look at, then that'd be a great time to mention it...
I had this same problem with a 2002 F-250 V-10. It was intermittent at first, but eventually OD flashed all the time. Also, the ABS light would come on. They replaced the speed sensor, but that wasn't the problem. It turned out to be wire chaffing on the harness back to the transmission. I don't know any more specifics about which wires were shorting. I suggest you look there.
