Power Sliding Rear Window Question

Ok.. a few years ago.. back in 1989 there was a company in virginia that sold power sliding rear windows.. not where the center section went side to side but the entire rear window in one piece went up and down.. anyone have any leads on this company? window? anything.

This is in a 79 f100..

Ford offered a power sliding back window as a dealer installed accessory circa 1985. The glass was mounted on tracks that fit behind the seat.

No F100/350 was available with power windows or seat until 1981.

Sounds like it would be a nice set up. I would like to know where to find one.

That is probably as rare as the heated rear window for 73-79. I`ve never seen a powered rear window though on any 81-97 Ford So they are probably practically non-existant.

I've seen one in the box at my local dealer, and asked about it for my 1981, back in the early 90's.

The great thing about the kit is that it will fit 1973-1996/7 although they were introduced mid 80's.

Just finding one though would be a stroke of luck.

It is going to take a lot of fabrication to put a full sliding down window in a dent. Where is the glass going to go once it is opened?

The back of the cab wall, not counting the "B" pillars from the lower window edge down to the floor is identical, 1973-1996/7.

It's hard to explain exactly, but what the window did when it came down, was it slid inwards and down, and went into a "box" that also contained the motor and linkage that was bolted behind the seat. The storage area behind the seat is taken up with the windows "box".
