Mercury Color Scheme...

Mercury literature and documentation is tough to find. I don't have any from 48-50, but I do have original brochures from 1951 and '52. Both of those show the trucks in one color. But they are nearly identical to the Ford brochures with the name changed. And since the "photos" are drawings and artwork, it's easy to simply change the lettering to say Mercury instead of Ford. And none of them mention anything about paint options, unfortunately. But from what I have gathered, if black fenders was an option, it was a very popular one. Many of the Mercury's I've seen had them. Including this one from some auto show in Canada, c. 1952.

It is my unsubstantiated understanding, (for now), that all Canadian production had black fenders.

Greg-M47 sent me some literature that also shows one color, but I was reading an ad here:
Mercury Antique, Vintage and Classic Trucks For Sale
where the seller indicated that all Mercury's 1/2 tons had two tone. It could just be the artist thing or maybe they profiled larger trucks which were one color.
I'm heading toward paint work on mine and was trying to decide which way to go. It looks like I would be safe with the two tone but I'm not sure how Sea Mist Green and black will look!
Thanks for the responses!

Hi Ryan, Glad to hear your Merc has gotten to the point of painting. I've still got a long way to go before I get to that point. That Merc that was done by the Guild was a money is no problem restoration. I'd love to see it up close. As far as only with black fenders and running boards? I've seen a blue with just black running boards and he claimed it was original. Real nice looking truck too. It won its class at the Arthur Ford and Mercury truck nationals. ( On this weekend but I've got to work!! )
Can't give you definite answer to your question. Sorry.
