This swap is a lot more complicated that it may appear. Both motors share transmissions but just about everything else is different, and since it is likely that the '95 is mass air and the '93 isn't and the fact they're for different engine types the wiring harnesses are not at all similar or interchangable, so you will be doing a bunch of wiring modifications. It would be far easier to simply put another 5.0 or even a 5.8 into the '95.

Thanks for the insights, thats exactly what I am going to do, switch Engine, trans, and T cases. All the current ones I have are low mileage.
Ironically, after I posted that last night I went and did just that on the ford fuel injection sight. I will be doing just that with the swap.

If you have both trucks, swap over the wire harness thats under the hood with the 300. The bulkhead(firewall) connector I think will hook up but with a few wires needing changed around depending on years. A GOOD wiring diagram for both trucks will help on that.

Also the engine mounts to the frame will have to be changed as they are for V8 or I6 only.

I will have to consult ford fuel injection and see what comes about with the wiring, and switches, I am wondering and almost certain I will have to do a cluster change as I THINK, they are different with the model years, maybe somebody can classify.

The reason I am importing the 300 is the fact it has under 40,000 and the drive train is good, the frame is gone I will be back and forth here I am sure.

300 I6 no good for me

I have two f150's one is a 1991 and the other is a 1992 both have the 300 fi with e4od i baught these trucks thinking they will get good mpg and still pull good boy was i wrong neither one gets over 13 mpg and they will kick out od on the list little hill iam not saying that the 302 is better because it is not i have had one of these as well the only real good engine to have in half ton would be the 5.8 or 351 it pulls a lot stronger and still gets about 12 to 13 mpg besides that installing a 300 i6 in one of these trucks really stinks i believe installing a 460 would be easyer there is a reason that ford only put one engine instal hanger on the 300 and that is on the front because the engine just about has to go in the engine compartment vertically unless you remove the front clip. i have done extencive research and develoment on the fuel system and timeing on 300 and even changing the injectors and regualtor you still will ony get around 14 t0 15 mpg good luck with this but if i had it to do over i would go with the 5.8 instead

What "extencive" research and "deveoment" on the fuel system and "timeing" have you done?

the '95 would be a mass air OBD2 truck correct???? if so i'm pretty sure your going to be changing the harness in the cab as well. new engine towers and motor mounts are needed. either air hammer or use a cutting torch to get the rivets off the old engine towers to get them off. i torched mine out w/ out hurting the frame at all or the towers. i just threw out those I6 engine towers too.... i think they are down in the pasture.

Ok, so your looking at interior wiring harness, under hood wiring harness, A/C lines, power steering lines, etc, etc..... lots of little things that have to be changed.. i'm going from 300 to 302.. let me know if you need anything

Waterace42, ur new here.. welcome. I don't really know what you mean about the 302 not getting good mileage.. the truck that my 302 came out of was my grandfather's old truck and he got 20-21 mpg with it everyday of the truck's life. we will see how it does in my truck once we get it running with 4.10's and 4x4, but i still can't see what your talking about... heck the 300 i took out of this truck got 16mpg w/ 4.10's and 4x4..

this is only one of the test in witch i have tried to improve both the mpg and and power i have even installed a vortec blower off a 302 mustang with no good result believe me the v8 5.8 liter ford or if you can motify the 5.0 enough and it is cheaper $ pound for pound to go with the v8 this a link to some of the websites that i have got my info from and tested it my on garage Ford ’87-’96 4.9L (300) EFI Fuel Injector and Pressure Upgrades 3

thank you for the invite now iave seen in a 2 wheel drive 5 speed version with 3.73 rear end and 235/85 r 16 tires f-250 that it gets close to 17 on the hwy and no a/c i own my own company and we run alot of the 1991-1997 ford f150 -f1250 now iam not saying that your not getting these figures but i never have and any body that i talk to, that also run these trucks in every day life like a truck suppose to running service calls across the city and state we just cant get very good numbers off the I6 and i sure would not take a v8 out and replace it with the I6 it is not cost effective by no means
