swapping a 302 with a 300
Yes I know I am going backwards of most. Here is the situation My godfather has a 93 f-150 with 40,000 miles on the I-6 has automatic trans is 4x4, we redid the truck, new bed and all back in 06 but the frame is gone. I am going to look at a 1995 F-150 with a BAD 302 also automatic with 4x4 , how much of a hassle would it be to change this engine into the truck with the 302? I am looking for advice, I have my own thoughts. I am going to look at the truck with the bad motor tomorrow
Otherwise I might be doing some frame chopping and welding in new frame rails, perhaps a new thread.

302 and 300 share the same bell pattern.
Since you have both trucks, this could be fairly easy. If both are stick or both are automatic, it will be easier.
'93 to '95 it should all interchange methinks.
FWIW, I think I'd rather rebuild or swap in an engine than attempt frame repairs. Lots of little things with both, but those little things under the truck by the fuel tank inside the crossmember... ymmv.

You have the donor truck and the truck you're working on. You should be A-ok. If it were me I'd be workin' on swapping it in already, you won't be sorry.
And I suggest against chopping and welding on the frame since that will destroy the temper of the steel that helps keep it so rigid.
And I further the "Not going backwards". I have a 300 as well, it's a great truck motor.

Thanks guys, I agree on the 300. I prefer it in a truck over the 302, although i have experience with a high mileage 302 but ne way. I will be finalizing the deal on the newer 95 truck, the old frame on the 93 is just worn out, My god father lives on very rough roads, and is 78 years old i want it to be safe. I mean i am not kidding when I say the engine is a 93 with around 40,000.
I will keep you posted,

AJ, I would suggest looking at the wiring diagrams on Ford Fuel Injection.com to get familiar with each trucks wiring. There are differences between the transmission wiring. The good thing is the wiring harnesses can be switched between trucks. If it were me, I would swap engine, trans, & t-case along w the necessary wiring. Good Luck!
