It's cool man. No problem. Like I said, it's just the internet. And I totally think you should keep the hood ornament. Show all them folks in their little SUVs what a real explorer looks like.

I am starting a 76 build up with a 69 body on it. Lots of work but I thought a good opportunity to re-learn everything I once knew about the F-150. It barely moved when the guy dragged it onto my yard, now I made all the conections for brakes, fuel, clutch, and a billion other little things, now trying to figure out how to get the wiring right. The guy had the right idea and a good 69 body but could not make the connections right. Since I have done all the manual to power mods before and have a pretty good boneyard by my house it was cheap (so far) to at least get it moving.
Now gotta dig intothe front end. Track bar bushings and c bushings were shot and driven on for a long time so the rest of the front end is out of line. The right spindle has a lot of drag on it even with no steering connected and the left side tie rod is about 1/2 inch from the inside of the tire. Did wheels from the mid 80's series trucks have a different backspacing than the 76? The toe in seems pretty good but the tie rod is sooo close..
Wiring was torn into as well, lots of red aftermarket wires running around. As soon as I save up to take the front end apart will get it back in the wifes parking spot in the garage and go for it.
Anyway that is my project, will post some pics and updates as I go along, I think projects like this are a great way to pass the time and get your hands dirty and a great excuse to get out of a lot of other things while learning about a great old truck. I will be using the non rusted out parts from my dads 68 to build one nice ride.
Good luck
