Hi guys, I'm looking to join the fun here and grab up this supposed 1976 Ford pickup. Thing is, the more I read about the '76's the less I think this is one. I believe the '76's have disk brakes on the front right? This one has 4 drum brakes. What do you think. I'll post more pics when I pick it up Thursday evening.
Front:
Engine minus air cleaner
Underside
Rear
Tell me what you know. The glovebox has a ranger tag on it, but it's the only badge I could find.
looks a lot like my 77, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this rig! you should probably start checking engine codes and door codes to try to get a date, also I believe behind the seat under the carpet if you peel it back some there should be a date stamped or written, I checked a newer ford I owned and it was built in december and one of the disgruntled line employees wrote the date and Merry F***n christmas! good luck with your research!
Grill is from a 76 or 77, but that means absolutely squat with a 35 year old truck. The same grill can be swapped into any 73 - 79. Cab looks to be pre 77 because of no emblem/badge holes in cowl, those could have been filled though. I also believe 76 was the 1st year for disc brakes. Check your vin to be sure.
I've pretty much decided to buy it. I've just got to get up to the guy an pick it up. He says it's a 360FE engine, but I don't know squat about em. A few guys from the office drive their dentsides to work and said they thought it to be older than 76 because of the drum brakes. I'll post a VIN when I get another look at it.
My 74 had disc and I belive the 73 did too. I'm pretty sure if that pickup has drums someone had to swap them in. I would check the frame vin before I upped a bunch of cash.
There is no title... GA doesn't require them before '86. Just need the old registration and Bill o' Sale here. Learned that today from the DMV. I asked the kid about the title and he tells me there isn't one. I was kind of bummed until I went down to the DMV and asked them about it. Apparently it's fairly common here. The lady at the counter says "Oh, don't even worry about it...here's the form to fill out blah blah blah..." Learn something new every day.
And that's why I left Vermont. That and the rust that ate my Dad's '91 wrangler. Should have been mine... but that's another story.
I did forget to mention that my friend is a Georgia State Patrolmen and is gonna run the VIN for me to be clear.
Vermont is great for many things...and not so great for many things as well. It's like half-and-half. I'm in the process of moving from this area as well.

That's a great thought.
The only good thing about Vermont was having friends that worked for Ben & Jerry's...free ice cream FTW!. That and lots of places to go wheeling. Other than that, it is a wasteland that the rest of the USA forgot. Actually, a lot like GA. Except with out the snow... and snotty attitudes.
Not sure but I dont think they made air gates in '76 Must be newer!! lol Sorry couldn't pass that one up.Reminds me of a time a buddy and I stopped to check out a dentside for sale-We looked it over and were a few miles down the road when he says "what year was that" I replied "A '79 you can tell by the chrome wiper arms" he was all quiet for a while, till I said " It said '79 on the for sale sign dummy!"

Hey Jeepers, do you think you could check into seeing how a guy could get some Ga paperwork for a truck that came from Ga. I'm trying to title it in Tenn, but I don't have a title since it came from Ga, and they didn't require them. I lost the bill a sale I had because I orginally bought it for a parts truck. I bought it in 06 so I've had it awhile. OH the drama, right?

Ice cream? Kidding me?
What I liked about Vermont was the nonexistent gun laws.
