You might want to try pirate 4x4's website, bill vistas dana 60 tech articles, i think i recall seeing BOM codes on there, can't recall if they were pre 79 or not though, you might want to also google Mr. N's dana articles and see what you find.

According to your numbers its a dana 60 rear powr lok 4.10. From a 1970 f250 2wd truck. 1 5/16" shaft with 16 spline,33 5/8 axle length. Decent axle but keep horsepwr down because you will shear splines off. I have one of these axles here at house. If you use close to stock tires good to go.

Welcome to FTE

Ford ID Number: C9TA-DC // Dana ID Number: 603092-2

This rear axle was originally installed in a 1969 F250.

1969 F250 Dana 60 / 4.10-1 / Limited Slip / 16 Spline Axle Shafts / 5300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity / Rear Axle Parts List #94.

If this rear axle was from a 1970 thru 1974...it would have different FoMoCo ID numbers: DOTA-AH 1970 / D1TA-SA 1971/72 / D3TA-JA 1973 / D4TA-GDA 1974.

And...if this rear axle was from a 1975, not only would the ID number be different (D5TA-JUB), but the axle shafts would have 30 splines.

Info sources: 1964/72 & 1973/79 Ford Truck Parts Catalogs.

When did the D60's on F250's transition from 16 to 30 spline? was it '75 or earlier?

Well there is only 1 way to find out for sure. To pull one axle can I just unbolt everything from the flange and pull it out? I have no experience with these axles. My plan was to narrow this to put under a steet car with about 550 hp.

If this wont work. Can it be switched over to 30spline. If so what parts do I need to look for?

BOM 603583-10 Not found on danas website

Hey all,

I finally found the BOM for my rear end. Tag looks like this.

4.10 D5TA LGB
603583-10 LTS

Dana's website shows no return for this BOM. Now I'm lost again. Can anybody identify this thing?

Do you have the serial break for the axle spline change?

1973/74 F250, 1975 F250 before serial number W20,001: D3TZ-4234-N = 16 spline axleshafts.

1975 F250 from serial number W20,001: D4TZ-4234-A = 30 spline axleshafts.
