Trust me, you'll get much more help when people can understand what you're asking.

If I understand you correctly, you had a PVC valve from a V8 which only had one port on it, but the one you purchased has two. It's supposed to have two, but that means that someone disconnected a vacuum line somewhere along the way. If that's the case, that means that something isn't hooked up correctly. The stock 300 computer is really finicky about things not being hooked up and it's probably resulting in shoddy performance. It may be easier to go to the V8 one with only one port, but if you want to do what's best for your engine, track down where that second vacuum line is supposed to go and get it hooked back up.

Use one port, plug the other...it doesn't matter which.

Think that'd be a good idea on an EFI 300? I know the computers on those things are just as finicky as all get-out. Who knows though, maybe the PVC setup isn't as big an issue?

In translating what he writes it appears he has/had a single port PCV on the vehicle and questions why the parts house gives him a dual port. It also appears he may have "pseudo-re-engineered" engine with some vacuum devices discarded or disabled. The simple, straight away solution to his stated problem (no more, no less) is to take the dual port PCV and put a plug over one of the ports. That doesn't address any other problems (not stated) which may occur from not having all the vacuum appliances connected...which might be an indication that whatever problem(s) being encountered have nothing to do with the PCV.

pcv ?

I replaced the PCV valve on my newly acquired 1996 F150 today . I bought it at Autozone and it too was a two port valve . After some difficulty locating it on the engine and difficulty accessing it's location , I finally was able to take the old one out and replace with the new one . The old valve matched the new one with two ports , but the upper ( smaller ) port was blocked off and only the larger ( bottom ) port was being used . I " assume " this is the stock configuration and hookup from the factory ? My truck has the 5 speed manual transmission . Perhaps the upper port is for an automatic equipped truck ? Just guessing here !

should have had a vaccume line going up to the charcoal canister next to your battery.

You're talking about the evaporative emissions system which does not source manifold vacuum. While it's true there is a vacuum line here, it's independent of the PCV valve.

The "extra" port, as stated earlier, is simply an extra tap for manifold vacuum. If you don't need it, plug it and you're fine.
