You want to be careful mixing and matching. Not saying it can't be done, but the cam has to match the rest of the valvetrain in most cases. I've seen solid lifter cams used with hydraulic, and either of those used with roller lifters, but that was people with a heck of a lot more experience than me doing the build-up. The heads should fit - and if they are 'stock' equipped with roller lifters and the cam is a roller cam, it should be fairly straightforward.

GT40-P heads can cause some real issues with certain headers or manifolds. Might want to research that a bit. If you are talking about taking a used cam from a 90's block and putting it in an 80's: #1 if it's a flat tappet cam it needs to be low miles and you must use new lifters. #2 if it is a roller cam, the 80's block won't be machined for it. #3 just get a new cam that's fitted to your set-up.

FWIW- NEVER use a hydraulic cam with solid lifters (or vice-versa)- the ramp acceleration rates are different and will munch a cam and usually everything else in the vicinity in a hurry. Same goes for hyd.flat and hyd. roller cams. The ramp speeds are very different. Use the appropriate cam and lifters to match.
