yeah i already have a few ideas using mercury switch, or reed switch or toggle switch. Not going to use the cigarette lighter or toggle under dash. Going to be creative.

Another type of switch I've seen uses a magnet to complete the circuit. The switch can be hidden behind the dash and wired to the starter circuit. You put the magnet over the switch, start it, then remove the magnet. If the truck is shut off it won't restart without the magnet.

do you use a mechanical fuel pump or an electric one? i have an electric one and have a switch in that power line, so the person might make it a block or so but that is about it. also i can turn the fuel tank selector switch to "off" and unless the person knows its there, they will not make it far.

I'd try some place that sells electronics or vehicle security systems first. Where I've seen them used was in big trucks.

A kill switch only gives minimal protection against those who would "pop" the tumbler on your ignition switch. A wire with clips from the battery to the coil/screwdriver at the solenoid and off they go, for a little while at least. Anyone who has even a little knowledge will take another wire with clips from the battery to the alternator and go as far as they want!! For better protection, pop the distributor cap and remove the rotor or use a piece of vacuum hose to make a fake coil wire. I know those things aren't as easy as flipping a switch, but I haven't been able to come up with any fool proof theft deterrent for these old Fords. I also have a 68 Mustang that I do NOT want to be stolen?!?!

Remember if you got an electric fuel pump as Brady said above you can cut fuel to just what's in the line, also you can run a kill on the coil to eliminate spark and of course secure your hood with a cable and lock.

That's why I'm working on a couple of things for mine. More than 1 thing to stop it may be a PITA but it will go a long way to making sure it will be there when I get back.
