Trying to decide on a good towing cam with power for the street

<TABLE width="100%" border=0 itxtvisited="1"><TBODY itxtvisited="1"><TR itxtvisited="1"><TD vAlign=top itxtvisited="1">Here is a Lunati cam I found at Summit:
Lunati 00053 - Lunati Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshafts - summitracing.com

It has lots of duration (300) and a .514 lift. The pistons I am using are the speedpro H395P. I'm using stock 1975 heads and the block is a 1968 block. No deck work and the heads are totally stock so no mill work on them. I want to be sure the cam lift isn't too much for the pistons and will this be a good toque cam. The cam I got with my master engine kit seems a bit weak or as stated by someone, a stock setup cam. I will be running long tube headers and a stock 4V intake with a Holley 600 carb ( came with it originally).
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
If this isn't a good choice, what do you guys recommend with my setup without doing any changes to it.

Smile getting there, but not quite

Sal, that'd be better than the stocker, but the ramps seem slow to me. That Lunati advertizes @ 300, but has 223 @ .050. Heres whats in one of mine, a Crane 343801. I don't know if Crane and Lunati use the same lift for advertizing, but this Crane advertizes @ .004 and alleges 278/290, with 222/232 @ .050, with .548 and .580 lift. I have this one in my 2wd and use it for daily driver stuff and pulling trailers full of firewood. I have a C6 with the stock '71 truck convertor behind it and a 3.5 axle gears with 33 inch rear tires. It has done very well for me. DinosaurFan, on work's old 'puter

Thats just about whats in my 352 to the # I have a .517 ex lift and 117 lobe sep IIRC. It's a nice torque cam for a low buck setup. Isnt much for over 5k but hell who's towing with those kinda R's going on? I'd strongly suggest getting all your engine parts mic'd and then leave your cam choice for last. Oregon cam grinders and a few others will custom grind a cam for you starting around 90.00 or so. Or you can pick from the litter... if you mic it all out you can grind to fit.

I am running that cam in my 428. Seems to work great. It was a recommendation from Barry Robotnik at Survival Motorsports.

For towing the idea is to keep the duration down and the lift up. The short duration gives you the low end torque needed for the towing at a low rpm and the high lift lets the motor breath still at higher rpm. I like the cam saleen065 posted. It will help gas mileage too.

I've run a Crane cam with 306° duration and a .509 lift with stock springs and rockers and never had a problem.
