i was just wondering why and how you set your hpop to 17 degrees verses the stock# of * what is the stock setting? why set it to 17? what if you set it to more? can you set it on a stock truck to make it run better?

ok, so the 17* has nothing to do with injection timing, just pump volume. they are saying that if you use a 99-03 psd hpop on our trucks it will run better than the factory 94-97 pumps. got ya! thanks for clarifying that.
new question, can you change the actual injection timing by jumping the camshaft 1 tooth foreward like in the big cummins truck motors??

It is the ECM that sets timing based on information it gets from sensors. There are electronic ways to trick the ECM into changing timing like the 10K mod. Our trucks have a camshaft position sensor and jumping a tooth MIGHT change injector timing but I am sure it wont be worth all the work and you might wind up with a valve going through a piston. Things like the 10k mod takes about 2 minutes to do and undo and cost less than a dollar to do.

x's 2!
the cam will only change valve timing which could result in valve to piston contact. If you want to change timing let a chip do it for you. Timing on a diesel is not nearly as forgiving as a gasser.
