Question Royal Purple power steering fluid

Hey guys just wanted to know if anyone has used Royal Purple power steering fluid in their Super Dutys? I was going to flush out the factory stuff and fill it with Royal Purple.
O ya its for my 2005 Super Duty V10 4v4

I am using their ATF in my power steering. No more whining and easier to turn the wheel when not moving. I am happy with it.

Cool I've been looking at doing the power steering and the brake fluid now. That's all that's left to do.

Wait they do make PS fluid right, or are you using auto trans fluid for the PS?

ATF and PS fluid are pretty much the same thing. I had plenty left over from my trans flush, so I decided to do the PS. They do have a PS fluid too.

The Ford spec fluid is Mercon ATF. Mine had something clear in it when I got it, I'm guessing standard hydraulic fluid. I flushed with Mercon and its noisier now. Next I'll go to synthetic Mercon and if that doesn't work better I'll try a synthetic PS fluid.

I'm using it and I don't notice any difference. To be honest, if I had to do it over again, or the next time I do change it I'll use whatever the manual calls for. I don't think it's worth the price you have to pay for it.

I believe my flush took less than 2 quarts, so 8 would be pretty close. However, $32 for qts of PS fluid or about $20 for 2 qts of ATF which is spec'd for the system. I think I bought 18-24 qts when I did my Trans flush, and had a couple of qts left over to use on the PS and reserve. Now, I have a qt in a box in my bed that can top off both my trans and PS.

Either way, have fun.

There's instructions linked in the tech folder I think. Basically unhook the return line from the master cylinder, put on a clear hose which dumps in a container, with truck running crank wheel back and forth while pumping the breaks until reservoir is almost empty, fill with fluid, repeat until fluid dumping looks like new stuff.
