Does anyone have any experience running Royal Purple Max ATF (synthetic) in their E4OD tranny? I am installing a remanufactured E4OD in my '93 F250 5.8L 4X4. I use the Truck for light hauling and towing of my Wrangler Rock Crawler as well as my 19' boat.
I've priced Amsoil, Royal Purple and Red-Line Synthetic ATF and the best deal appears to be a 5 gallon bucket of Royal Purple for $142. Please tell me of your personnel experiences with the E4OD and synthetics.
I believe the 4r100 is very similar, and I have Royal purple in mine. I am happy so far, but I also have a factory tech valve body and a B&M Trans Pan.
No personal experience with this exact transmission/syn. fluids. But I cant see any reason not too and the syn. fluid should help to keep the temperatures down which would extend the life of the trans.
It maybe advisable to check with several manufacturers of transmissions and get their opinion. I would not be surprised if you were asked to run conventional oil at least for the intial break in before switching to syn.
