I have a 2005 f250 with 17 in rims. i am looking to get new wheels and tires and was curious what bolt pattern, backspacing, and offset i need to fit my truck.
thanks
I'm in the same boat as the 'thread starter'... this will be my first set of aftermarket wheels and am a bit confused on things. Will the below wheel fit my 06 250 4x4? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=110125180276
they changed the offset in 05 with the new front end. that site says it will fit 98-07. the 98 trucks were 8x6.5, the 99 were 8x170mm. yes, they will bolt on. will they stick waaaayyyyy out, yup. i am not sure on the exact offset and backspace you will need.
Yep, stock bolt pattern is 8x170mm on the SRW trucks.
You'll want 4.5-5.71" of backspace on the 05-07 trucks.
A 4.5" backspaced wheel will stick out approx. ~1.5" farther than the stock wheel assuming the widths are the same.
Since stock 18s and 20s are 8" wide.......an aftermarket 18x9 or 20x9 with 4.5" B.S. will stick out approx. 2" farther than stock due to the backspacing and the increased width.
KMC makes some wheels with 5.71" of backspacing.....which is about as close to stock as you will find.
Also, very important FYI, not all aftermarket 17s clear the brake calipers on the 05-07 trucks. I would recommend 18"+ wheels when going aftermarket to be sure that they clear
