Question Exhaust Question

Hey guys I've Got a 97 PSD which I am in the process of working on. Just added a banks intercooler, Diablo 3 position chip, 1.0 a/r housing, tranny module, 3"dp, 10k mod and shimmed fpr. Kinda running low on money for exhaust now so I left it withjust the dp dumping under the cab. Turbo spools up awsome with the housing and no back pressure, just want to know if this will hurt anything (besides my ears and vibratingthe entire cab when you step on it) if I run like this for a month or two. Thanks

I would be sure that you have a pyro after all those mods. If not get one now before anything else. I don't believe it will hurt but I wouldn't try it in the very cold temperatures, I am just funny that way. Welcome to FTE it looks like you have been bitten by the PMS bug already. Post often you will learn much here.

Yes, I do have gauges-boost, pyro,&tranny(forgot about those) With the cold weather issue, would that just be for warmup? Was thinking about wiring the ebpv for exhaust brake, but I think that I saw someone put it on a three position switch so you could use it still to warmup. I saw cOOn's plexi glass shield(great idea over some of those ridiculous covers) Maybe I should do that to helpwith temp?

I put my ebpv on a smple switch that way I can use it to warm up or as a brake. Just on or off. Works great and very easy to do.

I would atleast put a turn down on the DP if you are going to run it that long.

would the turn down be to add a tad bit of back pressure orjust get the exhaust down under the truck to move it along. I was worried about fumes coming into the cab but havn't smelled anything in the last week or so.

The turn down would be to get the fumes down and out from under the truck. I wouldn't let it idle while still very long.

The thermo you can get here:

The turn down will also keep the soot off the underside of the truck as well as the fumes.

Seriously I would at least go to a muffler shop and see if he has any 4" pipe you may be able to get it further back to be less anoying for pretty cheap.

Thanks guys. I'm new to the diesel scene. I have heard in diesels that with backpressure "less is more". Just didn't know if you could go to far. Question on the exhaust- I have some scrap pipe that i could get it to the front of the rear tire but I can't find the flange to bolt up to the dp. Would hate to tack it to the new dp for a temporary fix. Anyone know where to gett it. Dumb me didn't save the old one!

I believe I cut mine off the old one. Sorry that doesn't help you though. Not sure ask at the muffler shop. Or try to find one here.
