Trans Temps 195 Degrees. Too Hot?
My trans temps on my 2002 PSD f250 run 165 around town and I noticed a temp of 195 last weekend while pulling my 7000k camper. is this too high? What temp is too high? i am planning on changing the fluid this week before a 5 hour ride to charleston sc while pulling the camper. Will this reduce temps? Thanks guys

220°f is what you should consider a maximum. For a short time, less than 1/2 hour, 250°F is permissible. These are temps in the pan or test port. Temperatures in the line to the cooler can get hotter than that.
Most quick lube places can change the trans fluid, or you can do it yourself. It isn't hard.

Tooling around town mine gets up to around the same temp (160-ish), but running 75-80 on the highway, then getting off and sitting in traffic, the heat builds up to around 185 or so. That is with no tow load in the 95*+ afternoon commute. I'll be putting in my tranny kit soon and will be going to syn ATF. It handles heat better than dino, so you might consider that before you go buy your fluid...
