Mounting Hydraulic Ram on dana 44

Can anyone give me some pics or advise about how they mounted a hydraulic ram to the front of a coil sprong '70s ford? I just can't find the right way to get the room I need. The ram is a 2.5" bore 8" stroke cylinder. Anything would be helpful.

A 2 1/2" ram would be too big. It will be too slow.

See if you can look up a 78-79 F-250 that had the hydraulic steering assist as it will be basically the same mounting. I have been looking at this same solution for my F-150, and from what I have found, the easiest way is to make a mounting flange that bolts to the top, front of the diff cover and the ram pushes to the passenger side where you make another mount on the tie rod making it go straight in and out.

Check this page:

There are some good pics of how to make your mounting, just do it in reverse for your ford.

Most full hydro guys steer from behind the axle. There are plenty of steering arms available that will allow you to mount the ram bhind the axle, and steer from the back side of the knuckle on the pass side. It looks like a crossover arm, and bolts to the knuckle the same way, so some machining, and drilling will have to be done to the flat top knuckle. The radius arm will not get in the way, and will allow for full flex. Easier to do this with a 60 but it can be done with a 44. The advantage here is the ram is out of the way from front impacts.
I will look for some old pics I took out at Moab when I saw this set-up.
