I am starting to have a pretty bad leak in my steering ram on my highboy with the Bendix power assist steering assembly. There are very few parts for the ram as far as seals are concerned, and remanufactured units are pricey. I was wondering if there is a new hydraulic cylinder that will take its place and work reliably. Thank you in advance!
Go see the guys at POWER HYDRAULICS on mountain lakes blvd... across from Industrial Metals.... tell them its for a tractor.. do not say its for a road vehicle.. (they wont work on road stuff) they will rebuild it better than new.. but its not always a cheap fix.... cash no receipt will save you some money.. I think 100-150 for a ram like that.. maybe less.. depends if they have to do anything to the shaft other than polish it
I let them do all my rams,, forklift to fire engine
and of course Mark at Straightline..he has lots of experience with this
Straight line quoted me $295 for a rebuild, a reman unit is $350 or so. It is in good shape, but the seals are worn and causing leakage. No polishing should be necessary to the shaft. Their price of sub $200 sounds like a good deal to me.
