351M flywheel & balancer ?
#6
If you purchase a brand new balancer, they only list one.
They both are a 28oz balancer. The difference is made up in the crankshaft.
& I have only see 2 types of timing pointers, and they both have the same location.
I have not been able to see any difference in them, but I have not concentrated on looking for the difference.
Someone has stated they had one, and when they checked the timing, it was off by 20 degrees. Hence they felt the timing location of the two is different, I am thinking the outer ring just moved.
If someone has some first hand proof, please let us know.

however, there are many different balancers with markings in different locations that will physically fit and balance the engine properly. just the degree scale will be in the wrong place. example is the 302 balancer used in "the mutt" build up. i'm pretty sure i have the same balancer on my C at the moment. i used a piston stop to find TDC and put a timing tape on it.

note that the 351C damper is listed as 60* counter clockwise, this is also correct for 351M/400. look at some of the other 302/351 dampers and you'll see that there are more than a couple other clock positions. some may be 50oz imbalance but will physically fit. it'll be a real mess. some stroker kits will use a 50oz balancer/fly/flex on purpose for ease of balncing the assembly, you need to know what you have going on!
