VR57A - 603 PHASE II McMulloch supercharger

I located this supercharger in my storage room. I bought it in 1980 at a swap meet in Houston Texas. For those of you that have been helping me with other things,I didn't know what it was until yesterday when I saw it in the McMulloch supercharger web site. I was pretty excited and it took 3 hours to find it in the storage room. Don't know too much about it except they are rare and were used on 57 ford 312's. From my reading the VS57 brackets will work. I think I might like to use this on my 57 312 that we will be using in the 57 truck. If I do this then I will not need to spend money porting the heads. isn't that correct. I know it will be exspensive to do this but so would porting the heads and intake. I need some advice on this! Is this the type supercharger Hurricane Hoosier runs? He could probably tell me everything about it.
Thanks
Charles

Do a site search for Y-block Blowers... I started a thread quite a while back with pics that ought to help you get it in there right.

Thanks I appreciate any information I can get. Do you know how anyone has fabricated the hoses? I am especially interested in ways that look somewhat factory. Is air pressure different from water pressure? I was thinking of 4" radiator hoses off or industrial or large trucks. What do you think? I really don't have a clue about this stuff but I am learning.
Thanks
Charles

I've got a OVS-57C 7515 McCulloch supercharger. I saw you mentioned a website and I found it to be very informative.
www.vs57.com My supercharger has a 3 inch outlet and a approx. 3.5 inch inlet. I always thought of using pvc pipe and the rubber couplers with hose clamps that you can get at the plumbing store. Then I thought for the 3 inch piece I could go to the muffler shop and get a piece for 3 inch exhaust pipe and still use the rubber couplers. This system only makes 5psi. I still have some questions though, on the other details. On the website the guy said there should be more modern methods to do certain things like fuel control, timing and carb modification, but doesn't offer any real world solutions. I have a turbo charger book that is pretty good in these areas and I might have to use some of their ideas. They show how you need a check valve in the line going to the auto trans, and how you can modify a holley by putting boost pressure on the vacuum secondary diaphram and jetting for boost enrichment. I am thinking of putting my supercharger on my 53 f100 with a 73 351c/2bblheads/c4/holley600

There is a very good book on turbocharging. I think the authors name is Innes or something like that. It has been in print for at least 20 years but it thoroughly covers blow through systems and the carb mods necessary as well as how pressure affects other systems on the car. I probably could use mandrel bent tubing to make the "hoses" if I ground the welds and painted it appropriately it could pass for a rubber. I might even dip in a vinyl to improve the illusion. The Cleveland should make some serious power.
