Post Headers For Camper Special - 1967 - 352

Has anyone installed headers on a 67 Camper Special 352 ? Tech Support for Headman indicated theirs would not fit Camper Specials due to extra frame braces and the driver's side gas tank. Others don't mention it. I currently run stock manifolds and route a single 3" Flowmaster down the passenger side. I'd like to run headers if possible using this same set up.

Anybody have a manufacturer and part number the've used sucessfully ?

Thanks

My 67 Camper Special has headers although they were already installed when I go it. Email me if you want a photo.

Ernie, Don't wast your money. Good duals is the most bang for the money. Headers are hot, loud, and can cause starter change outs to run 6 hours or more. Believe me, been there done that. I have a new 390 ready to go in one of my trucks, 2 barrel carb. and stock manifolds for me. I have a 352 with 4 barrel and Hooker Super comps in my other truck.

john is just sore because he burned his fingers and skinned his knucles on his hookers. Look at shortys from Sanderson or tri-Ys from Stan's. I think you'll find they fit better than many other brands, and EVERY FE needs headers ( Even yours John :-) ) DF

DF, I know that is your OPINION, but just adding headers to an engine (even though it allows better air flow patterns) WILL NOT justify enough improvement to cost, and headach of installing them. There are just too many FEs with high miles and log manifolds still on them to convince me that they are THAT bad. I stand by my statement that any engine used under 4000 rpms DOES NOT NEED headers. I choose not to install them on my new 390. https://www.ford-trucks.com/dcforum/DCForumID7/998.html IMHO

Headers suck! Duals with H-pipe or the DR. Gas X-pipe is the way to go. Check out www.spintechmufflers.com I think the side exit GTS kit would be a good idea. Watch e-bay or swap meets for a set of cast iron manifolds from a 410.

Hey Guys......

The intent was that perhaps several of you
may have personally installed headers in a
Camper Special. You might have remembered
the brand, or shared some advice regarding
the installation.

The ol header vs. manifold argument is tired.

Thanks for the responses however

Sorry E-man, John and I just love sparring on this headers/manifold issue. Anyway, the Sanderson shortys might be just what you need, and the Stans Tri-Ys are excellent also. If you check with the poster above whose CS already had headers when he got it, I think you will find most regular headers will also fit. But the drivers side pipe will have to run next to the pass side pipe along the pass side of the frame. once you are past the tank, the pipe can go back over to the driver side, or you can have both pipes come out on the pass side. Ask BBB to send you a picture of his Sandersons, and you'll see what I mean. DF

e-man , I put aset of sanderson's shorties on my 77 f250 , 4x4 and then had aset of duals run with no problems.....sanderson's are coated both inside and out and are very hi quality in my opinion---But they cost me 505 delivered to my door in texas----so they ain't cheap---and i know they help somewhat!!!do they help 500 worth is probably a subjective opinion because I'm not going to spend another 400 or so on a full day at the dyno to validate my purchase , fd :-X11

Just think fatdaddy, for $500.00 a schoose of improvement is somewhat a beautiful thing, if you could just prove it.
