How "safe" is the SCMT anyway???

Just bought me an 06' 350 CC Lariat shortbox. My god is this a bad *** truck for sure. I came from a RAM 3500 CTD, and I must say that there really is no comparison. I will admit that the CTD is a heck of an engine, but that is about it for the comparison. Ford's build quality is a few steps above the Dodge. Anyhow...I just got the 1706 SCMT for my truck and am curious as to how "safe" this really is as far as transmission, engine etc. I am only using the tow safe mode now, but am curious as to the difference between that and the economy mode and how safe the economy mode is as well.

Can the Torqshift handle the power consistently, or is the chip mainly for play now and again?

any responses are much appreciated!

I'll get you pictures on here as soon as I can.

by the way, I have 18" wheels and 35x12.50 BF Mud terrains with absolutely no rubbing whatsoever. Damn it's a wicked looking truck.

Yeah, I agree. I think the Cummins is a GREAT engine...

Problem is you have to buy a dodge to get one...

I'm still completely happy with my powerstroke, but I am nervous (just because of all the issues others have had)

I've never heard a bad thing about the CTD

If I bought a dodge I'd be loving the engine but hating the truck every day I got in it.

I chipped my 05 with less than 500 miles on it. It now has 11,000 miles in 4 months, I have not had any problems.

I had also chipped my 04, it had 51,000 miles on it when I traded it fo rthe 05. I never had any problems with it or the SCMT!!! Remember the majority or what you read here is bad things, in my opinion based on the 2 6.0s I have had and 60,000 they are pretty good engines. It is yet to be seen how they hold up to the test of time, but the SCMT has not hurt mine as of yet.

I have just under 35000 miles on my truck and have had the SCMT on it for at least 25000 of those.

I've towed quite a bit with it and do day to day driving, plus have done four runs at the 1/4 mile drag strip and many many on-ramps.

Not seen a single problem.

What level do you all run yours on? I have a SCMT. I installed it in October, liked it alot, but returned the truck to stock in November. I bought it before I knew about these forums. When I started looking at these forums (especially another powerstroke forum), I noticed that people with power enhancements were having troubles. Additionally, they were having warranty repairs denied.

I still have the SCMT and might use it again in the future, but I just don't want to cause any problemos with the truck. BTW, I kept mine on tow safe mode except for a quick run on the performance mode when I first got the tuner.

I started running mine when my '06 had only 1,000 miles and not has 4,000mi. and she runs great. I run it always in Hi=Perf. mode unless if I'm towing or going to the dealer.

SCMT is really a great simple product. Plug it in-set it up and thats it constant power always availible with no headaches. Now my Mustang on the other hand...

Now this is just MHO Trannys and programmers do work well together. If I did want one get a SCT with a trans program .The SCMT ate two of my trannys on my 01 7.3 .

7.3 is an entirely different animal....some of them seemed to burn trannies regularly in stock form.

The SCMT has an EXCELLENT trans program for each power level on the 6.0.
In fact, this is where the product shines most.
