'79 F-250 transfer case
My dad has a '79 F-250 4x4 with a part time transfer case.
I don't know which lever position is which. I believe that all the way forward is 4x4 low, next back is nuatral, then 2x, then 4 Hi (all the way back). Is this correct?

To make it a little clearer, this is the way it would look, from what I can figure out:
4x4 low
|
|
N
|
|
2x
|
4x4 high
Is that correct, or did I get it wrong?

Being that you say it's a part-time, I'd say it's an NP205. An easy way to tell is to look at it. If it cast iron, and kinda boomerang shaped, it is a 205. If it is aluminum, and an elongated oval shape, it's a 203. Also, it should have a tag either on the rear of the case, between the drain and fill plugs, or on the front above the front driveshaft.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Nov-02 AT 04:42 PM (EST)]The truck has manual hubs.
I wrote down the transfer case model in the repair manual, but it is at my dad's ranch and I don't have access to it or the truck at the moment.
P.S., thanks for the replies.
