So my truck has started shifting hard recently, it goes up to high Rpms then throws you back in your seat but when I clear the codes it shifts normal. The codes were saying torque converter clutch slippage for gears 1-2 and 3-2. Does this mean I need a new torque converter, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

 

Exactly what codes are in the computer? There are no codes that say the converter is slipping for the 1-2 and 3-2 shifts. That doesn't make any sense.

 

Take all wiring connectors off that run the trans. TPS and 2 by tranny. Clean only with electrical cleaner then add dielectric grease for protection. My 89 E4OD DID NOTHING ONE DAY did this and never had a problem. Fords are bad for wire and wires degrade by connectors.
