Go online to the Ford site and register your VIN. I know on my 2013 there is a warranty extension on the radio due to a known issue with communication. See if this doesn't apply to your vehicle and then contact a local Ford dealership and discuss the problem to see if it wouldn't be covered under this warranty extension.

$150 for a Sync update that likely won't work. Good Luck.

There's a ton of APIM modules on ebay for $50-$100. Maybe consult with your dealer and see if they can be programmed for your truck.

My APIM only has one USB port, and I'd like to have two. So I talked to my buddy at the dealership and asked if they were interchangeable. He didn't know, said we could try it if I bought one. I'm trying to decide if I want to risk $50-$100 to find out of it will work.

If you just bought this thing, make the dealer fix it. My dealer would no questions asked, maybe because they want my return business, and I've bought a bunch of vehicles, or maybe it's the 3 day buy back law. They also don't want the reputation of selling vehicles with issues.

Dealer only covers safety related items. But on the way out to dinner tonight girlfriend tried to use the 12v outlet above the sync usb connector and it was dead, maybe it runs on the same fuse?

I thought you said you'd already checked all the fuses and such? Maybe check wiring, too?

The $150 is for a map update not the sync software update, the software update should be free.
