Transmission wont go into reverse so i ended up rebuilding it. After installing the transmission i poured 8 quarts into the transmission and 1 quart into the torque converter prior to the installation. Tried shifting the transmission nothing. No reverse no drive nothing. Do i need to add more transmission fluid? Because my mechanic told me to pour 6 quarts then drive for 2 miles then add the rest of the other 6 quarts. Anybody have any ideas?

 

You need more fluid. If I knew which trans I could tell you how.much more, but you are so short on fluid you might have to rebuild it again if you ran it dry long enough.

PS - Your mechanic is an idiot.

 

Depending on what transmission you have you may be a good 8 quarts low.
