Not to derail, but what's this with the hornpad? My CC is stubborn for the most part as well, It'll work, but you've really gotta mash on it. I took it apart and cleaned the contacts, but it didn't really change it. Sorry for the frustrations!!
Mine was the same way. Had to push real hard on the OFF button.
^^^^ When do you ever turn the cruise off? I've kinda forgotten there is an OFF button. I've always just tapped the brake or clutch pedal to disengage the cruise. Other vehicles I've owned, the cruise on/off was an SPST switch, not two momentaries. It was always in the ON position, because I would simply set it when I wanted to, and disengaged it with a pedal tap.
Keep in mind that every time you turn the key off you clear the abs codes. So you want to drive with the light on for a while then check the codes before you turn the key off.
