My ABS light came on the other day. Its off now but I would like to know more about how the ABS works and where the all the parts are located so when the time comes to fix things I have a clue. The ABS is just on the back brakes ?
Yep, it's rears only. RABS, Rear Antilock Brake System.
What were the circumstances when the light came on?
The dash light comes on everytime the RABS is active. Some are a little too sensative IMO.....It may activate under normal braking and hitting a bump in the road with the rear tires.

I was getting on the gas when it came on. As far as bumps in the road we have plenty of them around hear. Every now and then the rear will skip sideways from hitting a bump or one of the pot holes. I have been thinking about lowering the pressure in my back tires because the ride is so harsh. I never did notice the light on before so I thought something might be wrong. Will a fault in the abs make the cel come on?
Just unplug the light, and the brakes.
You don't need either of them.
That might be ok for me but what about people who have a lot of weight in the back on a regular basis? Heavy loads + wet roads = weels locked up = crash. Right?
